A man whose experience and background helped blur the lines between affordable and luxury for many, Mr Raman Singla, Vice President and Business Head, SBP Group is the perfect example for the upcoming generation of marketers.

An MBA in Sales and Marketing from Gyan Jyoti Institute of Technology, Mohali, he has travelled a long way to create his mark in the market. The man who is the driving force of SBP, Mr Singla takes us to a deep insight through the journey.

What inspired you to take the professional plunge in real estate? Have the industry standards met your expectations?

My biggest turning point to settle for a change was after witnessing the commitments of many developers not getting fulfilled and losing a lot of trust from their customers. That moment I felt what if I was given a chance; will it be difficult for me as an individual to fulfill what I commit? So, here I am in front of you, delivering and fulfilling in actual terms what we commit at SBP. Our motto of raising the bar a little higher has been met when we delivered within a year what we committed. About the industry standards, I may say “Yes” as nowadays the people can judge what is good for them. Due to the increasing demand of the consumers, the industry has to settle just for the best and raise a benchmark. So, it becomes our highest point of duty to fulfill their dreams. Developers have now started working on towards such a change and which is quite impressive and commendable.

How would you describe the latest trends and challenges that are dominating this sector right now?

The challenges of the organized and unorganized sectors are dominating the industry in present times. Amendments in the Government policies are expected to minimize these challenges and make way for newer advancements. Also, the basic needs of buyers have transformed into luxury needs. Hence, it can be said that current trends in the real estate industry have improved the lifestyle of homeowners as well. This is both challenging and thrilling to fulfill their expectations & setting new standards.

The SBP Group is reckoned to be the ‘No. 1 Housing Company in Punjab’. Take us through your trailblazing journey?

SBP began its journey in 2008 with its first project Noor City Kharar, Mohali which had 69 flats. Similarly, the brand launched two more projects in 2009 which again received a great response. Further, we launched our 4 record-breaking projects including Housing Park, South City, North Valley and SBP Homes. The company also experienced a tough time in 2012-2013 when the industry was hit by the biggest slowdown. However, we never gave up. We focused on delivery even during these tough times which helped us rise again. And today, after delivering 12 projects, SBP is the No. 1 Housing Company in North India with more than 5000+ Apartments delivered..

Spill the beans about your fundamental strategy to make it big in the real estate industry?

Currently, SBP is on its journey to grow. We are just a ‘housing company’ right now that delivers residential projects. But if we consider the real estate industry as a whole, there are many things that we intend to do down the line like hotels, hospitals, malls, commercials and senior citizens living. There are so many avenues for us to come up with. We have started working on a brand new concept of Student Housing. .

SBP also brought to the market its most luxurious project SBP City of Dreams in Mohali. It adds comfort and finesse to your life through its wide range residential and commercial structures. A project curated with fine landscape, it is a project coupled with bespoke luxury. With this project, you get unprecedented luxury equivalent to that of high-end opulent projects at affordable prices. With a strategic location and world-class amenities, it redefines living standards.

Further, we are also planning for a senior citizen living concept which will be the first-ever project in Tricity. So, we have a lot on our plate for the future. We are planning to extend our boundaries to the other states of India as well.

Provide a sneak-peak into your latest projects? What makes it a notch higher than the rest?

Down the line, we have a few projects on our list. Gardenia Wellness Homes, Student Housing namely Carpediem, Urban Meadows, Magnolia Greens are our major upcoming projects, which would be launched in the next 2-3 months. SBP has been known for its innovation and we are working on the same line for our upcoming projects to improve our pace in the industry. Secondly, SBP is known for its speedy delivery. To keep up with this strength, we have incorporated MIVAN Construction and Technology in upcoming developments. Also, the amenities we have offered in our latest projects have set a new benchmark in the industry. Getting such quality on economical pricing is no less than astonishment for the home buyers and market as well. All of these aspects make us quite different from the rest.

Three things that a prospective buyer must keep in mind before investing?

  • Assess the record of the real estate company by reviewing the record of the past delivered projects.
  • Check if the company is RERA registered. Also, check if the property they are about to invest in is RERA Approved list.
  • Choose a property based on price, location, amenities and facilities.
